Does My Driving Record Ever Get Erased?

Unfortunately, while points that are added to your license get removed after 2 years, your driving record stays the same. Every time your get a ticket or citation while driving, it is put on your driving record. The citation, date and amount of points are recorded. The citation and date will remain even after the points are removed by the DMV, once the 2 year period ends or removed by you taking a Defensive Driving Course.

Although you can't erase your driving record, you can erase the points off your license that are accrued by getting driving tickets and citations. Traffic citation's points are removed 2 years after the traffic citation, getting 15 points on your license within 24 months will result in a license suspension. To avoid getting your license suspended, you can take a DDC/Defensive Driving Course once every 5 years and get up to 7 points removed from your Georgia driver's license. Once you have completed the class, taken your certificate of completion to the DMV and gotten the points reduced, you can take it to your insurance agent and see if they can reduce the insurance.
